DOES THE HOTEL HAVE FREE CAR PARKING FACILITIES? | Yes, parking is free at The Upper House. We have plenty of spaces conveniently located at the fornt of the house; including accessible parking spaces, and EV charging facilitlies. |
WHAT’S THE EARLIEST I CAN CHECK IN? | Our check-In time is from 3pm onwards. We can arrange an Early Check In from 12 o’clock if you would like the room earlier, there is a £20 charge for this service, and this is subject to availability. |
IS THERE A LATEST CHECK IN TIME? | Our Reception desk is manned until 11pm Monday - Saturday, and until 9pm on Sundays. If you travel arrangements require you to arrive after these times we have a Night Porter on site who is available to facilitate Late Arrival Check In . We ask if you can let us know ahead of time if you will require a Late Check In. |
WHAT IS YOUR POLICY REGARDING CANCELLATIONS? | We offer a very flexible cancellation policy, which allows cancellation up to 1pm of the day before you arrival without incuring any charges. |
WHAT’S THE LATEST I CAN CHECK OUT? | Our Check-Out time is 11am. We can offer a Late Check Out subject to availability - Please contact us directly if you would like to check the availability, pricing and time we can provide for you. |
WHAT IF I AM RETURNING LATE TO THE HOTEL? | Returning to the hotel late is not a problem. For your convenience, your bedroom key also opens the main front doors, allowing you to let yourself in at any hour. We do, however, kindly ask that you respect other guests who may be sleeping and keep noise to a minimum upon your late return. |
ARE YOU A DOG-FRIENDLY HOTEL? | Yes, we are a dog-friendly hotel that welcomes small, well-behaved dogs. These guests are permitted to stay in a limited number of our designated rooms, and a supplementary charge of £25 per dog applies. |
WHAT IS YOUR SMOKING POLICY? | We don't allow smoking anywhere inside the hotel, but guests are welcome to smoke in our outside seating areas. We ask that you are respectful to the wishes of our nonsmoking guests. |
WILL I BE CHARGED FOR EXTRA GUESTS OCCUPYING MY ROOM? | There is an additional charge for extra guests, but not all rooms are equipped to accommodate them. Please reach out to the hotel to discuss your needs. |
WHAT DO I DO IF I’M UNHAPPY DURING MY STAY? | We pride ourselves on providing the highest level of guest satisfaction, and we sincerely hope this situation does not arise. However, should you feel we have fallen short of our usual standards, we encourage you to speak with a member of our team at your earliest convenience. We are always committed to addressing any concerns fully and making amends wherever possible during your stay. |
WHAT FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED FOR CUSTOMERS WITH DISABILITIES? | We offer a range of accessible facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for all our guests. These include accessible public areas, and accessible public restroom, lift access to all floors, and a fully accessible bedroom equipped with a wet-room shower. |

ARE YOU A MODERN HOTEL? | The Upper House is a historic building, rich with character and heritage. While we cherish our history, we also embrace a modern approach to hospitality, ensuring our guests enjoy contemporary comforts and service. |
DO YOU HAVE A DRESS CODE? | While we do not have a formal dress code and maintain a relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel, we do ask that guests dining in our restaurant adhere to a smart/casual dress code. |
DO YOU PROVIDE LUGGAGE ROOM FACILITIES? | Yes, we are pleased to offer luggage storage for our guests' convenience. We are happy to store your bags if you arrive before your room is ready or if you would like to do some final sightseeing after you have checked out. |
DO YOU PROVIDE LEISURE FACILITIES? | Unfortunately, we don't have any on-site gym, sports, or spa facilities. However, we are situated on the doorstep of several beautiful walking and running routes. For other leisure activities, we are located in close proximity to five high-quality golf courses and are only a short drive from the Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat. |
WHAT CAN WE DO WHEN WE ARE IN THE AREA? | There is so many fabulous attractions and things to do in the area, including The Potteries (World of Wedgwood, Emma Bridgewater and more), Trentham Estate, Alton Towers, the Peak District National Park, Regent Theatre, Victoria Hall and much more. DO YOU HAVE ANY FUNTION ROOMS? | Yes, we are pleased to offer a variety of function rooms designed to accommodate occasions of all types and sizes. For more intimate gatherings, we have two private dining rooms that are perfect for smaller parties. Additionally, we have two large function rooms that are ideal for hosting larger-scale celebrations and events. WHAT TIME DOES YOUR RESTAURANT & BAR OPEN? | Our Lunch service runs from 12pm – 2pm, Monday to Saturday. Sunday Lunch is served from 12pm – 4pm. Afternoon Tea is served Monday to Saturday from 12pm – 5pm. Dinner is served Monday to Saturday from 6pm – 9pm and 6pm – 8pm on Sundays. |
WHAT TIME IS BREAKFAST FROM AND TO? | Our breakfast service runs from 7am to 9.30am Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 10am on weekends. All of our bedroom rates include breakfast, which offers a generous selection of different cooked breakfast options. |
